This is where we stayed...the property was on 60 acres and had a pond so even if we stayed around the house we found things to do:
And we enjoyed views like this:
We visited Bishop Castle which was weird. Jim Bishop was there working when we went and he scared me:
David and Ryan climbed to the very top (can you see them at the top?)...I felt so unsafe so I only went about half way up and decided to come down and take some pictures:
We went on several big hikes and did some exploring, and David got to do lots of fishing:

We came across a black bear on one of our hikes! Yikes! He walked across the trail about 20 yards in front of us. I took this picture while we were standing on a large rock...just in case! He is somewhere behind the tree line in this picture:
We spent one day at the Royal Gorge Bridge. We did most of the attractions, like the aerial tram and incline railway. Out of all the amazing things we did Ryan's favorite was the carousal:

My brother and his family were also in Colorado so we met up in Colorado Springs and hung out for two days. Ryan loved being with his cousins and said that was his favorite part of the vacation. We met at the Focus on the Family Center and played for a few hours:

We also went to Garden of the Gods and walked around the park:

The next day we went to the Olympic Training Center and took a tour of the facility. We also posed for some of our own Olympic moments...check out how proud Derek is of his silver medal!!!
After the tour we went our seperate ways and we headed to Pikes Peak. The plan was to ride the Cog Railway, but it was booked for the day so we drove the 19 miles ourselves. The views were amazing and there were several fun stops along the way. At the top we did the touristy thing and ate the world famous donuts with hot chocolate. There were quite yummy!
