Insulin Pump

David recently switched to using an insulin pump for his diabetes. It has worked great for him so far and has caused lots of curious questions from our almost three year old. David has explained to Ryan several times what it is, what it does, and why he has it. Ryan understands that Daddy has to have an insulin pump on the outside because his "insulin pump" on the inside does not work. And he also understands that his does work, therefore he doesn't have to have one like Daddy. The other day Ryan came up to me with his hand over his stomach and said,

"Mommy, my tummy hurts. And my insulin pump hurts too."
