It's Christmas Time!

Christmas is starting early this year at the Leiffer house! I think it first started with my Body & Soul morning classes. Since we have a longer Fall session this year (12 weeks instead of the usual 10), I decided it would be fun to change up the cardio portion of class and do Christmas routines! So we put jingle bells on our shoes and have been sweating to songs like Silent Night, Joy to the World, Deck the Halls, and Feliz Navidad. It's so fun!

Secondly, I decided to get out my Department 56 Village pieces. I look forward to doing this every Christmas and just wanted to enjoy them longer. I, well I should say we, got the first piece from an aunt and uncle for a wedding present six years ago (tomorrow!) and then my in-laws have bought me a building each year for Christmas. I've picked up a few random pieces here and there, like people, vehicles, and trees. It's such a beautiful display and fun to see it grow.

I didn't realize how starting Christmas early was going to affect the two year old in our house. He didn't seem to notice the change to Christmas music, but waking up after his nap yesterday to lights and snow covered buildings and small Christmas trees triggered it right away! He's pointed out all the Christmas decorations in every store we visit so when he saw the village he asked, "Is Christmas at our house?" We examined each piece closely and he explained them all to David when he got home from work. Last night we talked about the meaning of Christmas and had fun explaining it in terms that a toddler would understand. Lately he's been big into birthday parties so he is excited to celebrate Jesus's birthday...only problem is he doesn't understand that it is over a month away!!
